Nathan did very well in the derby . . . out of 7 Tiger Cubs, he came in 4th. Over all, out of 50 boys in the pack, he came in 11th. For his first ever derby, he did great! Here's a picture of Nathan, Terry, Caleb (Nathan's 'lil buddy), and Jim (Caleb's Dad) . . . they all had a wonderful time yesterday! Caleb got an award for the most creative . . . they made a snake derby car!

Papa & LaLa even came up for the Derby too! It's pretty exciting when your grandparents come up for it, 'ya know? Papa was amazed at how technical the whole derby is now, with the track hooked up to a computer and all . . . wasn't like that when he was a boy! :o)

The Kids Krop was yesterday afternoon. Thank you ladies, for coming and spending the afternoon with me! These 'lil ladies are now going to be referred to as the "Shimmer Spritz Girls"! :o) I swear, if something sat still long enough . . . these girls would spritz it! :o) Girls, even young ones, like bling . . . don't they?!

You want to be a Spritz Girl too?! You can make your own Shimmer Mist with the new SU! Shimmer Mist Paint. The paint comes in three different colors, I used Champagne color (about 10-15 drops) and then filled a small spritz containter with rubbing alcohol. It adds just enough sparkle to any project.

Can't believe tomorrow is February 1st . . . it's 19 more days until the Easter workshop (February 19th) and 26 more days (February 26th) for all the Spring Fling registrations to be in! Oh my!

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by my craft room!

Kids Krop class

I'm having a "Kids Krop" class tomorrow . . . we might as well say a "young lady" crop class, because they're all girls tomorrow! What a switch, huh? :o) This is one of their projects tomorrow . . . a tin scrapbook. When you open the tin, the paper inside that pulls out (to expand). The girls will also be making a Heart Sweet Treat cup card, and the "Love you much" card (shown on 1/25).

Got another BIG thing going on tomorrow . . . Nathan is going to be in his
first Pinewood Derby! He's SO looking forward to this event. The "Spiderman" derby car is ready to go! We've heard the cars don't last more than three times down the track . . . you'd think a bunch of Boy Scouts/men could make it run a few more times than that, don't you?! Anyway . . . hopefully his car holds up for races. Terry is helping out, tonight, with setting up all the equipment for tomorrow. You know I'll be snapping alot of pictures! :o) Can't wait to see our 'lil man race his Spiderman car!

Thanks for stopping by my craft room!

Coffee Cakes

Nathan, our oldest, is having a "Family Heritage" day tomorrow in his class . . . a time where the kids can talk about where each of their families came from. Nathan and I sat down and started talking about his Grandparents . . . Great Grandparents . . . Aunts and Uncles, etc. The teacher said that we could include food, presentations, etc. anything to show our family heritage.

Since I couldn't see 20 - 1st graders sitting through a PowerPoint presentation of our family tree . . . I decided to talk to their tummies! We made Mangelsdorf Coffee Cakes, a family recipe that was brought over from Germany, from our Great-Great Grandparents . . . and these are delicious (with enough sugar holes)! Right Sissy?! :o)

With being made from a cup of potatoes, 7 cups of flour, potato water, and Crisco . . . they are very dense cakes. The recipe states you need about 4-5 of these so called "sugar holes" per cake . . . Mom & Dad used to always put about 7 or 8 in each of the cakes, to make 'em a bit sweeter. I recall as a child, there never being enough of these 'lil scrumptious sugar holes . . . that was always my favorite part! So . . . we kind of quadrupled the number of sugar holes! :o) We put 13 in each coffee cake . . . oh boy! They did turn our pretty tasty, if I may say so myself!

Wish us luck tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by my craft room!
Peggy

p.s. We did make a family tree, to post up on the overhead projector though . . . can't be all food, right?! :o)

Haiti Relief

Stampin′ Up! has a long history of making a difference in the lives of others . . . especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted Stampin' Up! to ask what the plan was for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.

Stampin' Up! invited employees to help assemble the kits over a couple days . . . apparently the response was so enthusiastic that they got all the kits assembled in one day! WOW!

Also . . . from now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set you purchase will be donated American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Clear-Mounted I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set
Item #: 118571
Price: $18.95
(Block D recommended, Item # 118485 - $8.50)

Wood-Mounted I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set
Item #: 117010
Price: $26.95

This is a simple and straightforward plan . . . the more stamp sets you purchase, the greater the difference you make! Often it is the simplest plans that work best. :o)

Who said Valentine's have to be red?

Who said that Valentine's have to be pink & red?! I got this idea from Tami White's blog. I changed it up a bit . . . but I used the Scallop Envelope die, Heart-to-Heart punch, and the Well Scripted stamp set.

I loved the way the hearts seemed to be floating out of the envelope. Since it's not a difficult card, this will be a perfect Valentine's day card, for the kids class I'm having on Saturday! They're also going to be making a Tin Scrapbook . . . I'll post pictures later.

Valentine's Day is now less than three weeks away (three weeks from yesterday) . . . are you ready? What are you getting that special person, in your life?

Thank you for stopping by my craft room!

Rag Purses

Theresa (AKA: Sissy) and Cara came over yesterday, to make Rag Purses. We made their purses a bit bigger than the denim one I made. They actually have lots of "stuff" they want to put in theirs! :o)

Cara is going use her purse as a diaper bag and Sissy is going to use hers as a sport purse (when they go to their sporting events) . . . hence the reason it contains all forms of sports. She even included the KU Jayhawk too . . . but she covered him up with her button! Isn't that a shame . . . poor Jayhawk? :o( We cut one out for Cara's friend, Marie, who couldn't make it . . . but she's gotta sew her purse together on her own. Didn't they turn out cute?

We used the Scallop Square die, which makes it a
breeze to cut out (can go through about 8 layers of thin fabric). After you sew it all together, you make slices along the scallop edge . . . once it's all sliced, run it through your washer & dryer about 2-3 times and viola'!

We started around 1:00P + dinner + a trip to JoAnn's (for more fabric) + cutting out three purses and sewing? They did great! Sissy's husband about flipped, when she called at 10:00P to tell him that she was on her way home! :o) Too funny!

Had a great time with you two gals!

Patrick is doing MUCH better today . . . thanks for all the well wishes for the 'lil man! ;o) Thank you for stopping by my craft room!

Ornament Punch - New Use!

Looking for a new use for your Stampin' Up! Ornament Punch?

This card was in out Stampin' Success magazine this month and once I saw it . . . I just had to go and make it! New uses, for punches we already have is always good . . . right?!?! :o) I changed a few things (embossing the cardstock and a making a knot in the ribbon), but who would have thunk . . . an ornament punch as a fish?!

Poor 'lil Patrick has been getting sick since about 3:30A! Nathan has something very similar last Thursday . . . but it only lasted that evening. Hopefully Patrick's symptoms last just as short as Nathan's did. Your heart just goes out to your kids, when they're sick, doesn't it? There's not much you can do . . . except give them medicine (in hopes that it'll stay down) and give them lots of love & snuggle time! :o)

Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Thanks for stopping by my craft room!

Okay . . . I came home from work today and this was in the hallway and I just started to laugh. Wanna know why? Click on the picture and look at the box closely on the top/left! Oh my . . . it absolutely cracked me up!! Tell me you didn't crack a smile, after seeing it! :o) For those of you that placed orders . . . I'll be contacting you tomorrow, to arrange delivery of your order! :o) Isn't Sale-A-Bration time just wonderful?!?!

I've got a workshop tonight, at the church we belong to . . . I have everything organized and ready to go . . . just gotta pack my car. I'll try and sneak a picture or two! :o)

Hope you're having a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by my craft room!

Old Window - New Purpose

One night on my way home, awhile ago, I passed by a house that had a bunch of windows in their front yard with a sign saying "free" next to them . . . at the time, I had NO idea what I was going to do with them . . . but I packed my 'lil SUV with as many windows as would fit in the back! When I showed them to Terry, he thought I'd fallen off my rocker! :o) I just new there was something crafty we could do with these . . . hmmm . . . old windows + paper + pictures = treasure! Jenny came over yesterday and we "played" with our windows!

Here's the one I did . . . Jenny is still trying to figure out how to e-mail pictures from her new phone! :o) Once she figures that out, I'll post what her window looks like. I used temporary adhesive, so I can change them out whenever I want. I put this in our dining room (for now) . . . but I think it looks pretty good on top of Grandma Betty's cabinet. I have one more picture to put on there + some embellishments . . . but didn't it turn out cute?

Hope you're having a great day! Thanks for stopping by my craft room!

Valentine's Day Workshop Card

Here's the one of the cards for the Valentine's Day workshop, this Friday. We're going to use the new Sweetheart Treat Cups! I just love the heart shape! I had some left over M&Ms at home, so I could show you . . . but we're going to use some Red Hots for Friday night! If you haven't RSVP'd yet . . . be sure to do so! I'll have the White Russians ready! ;o)

I've purchased some new items, from the Mini catalog and boy-oh-boy are they cute! One of my favorites is the Boy Love Bots Kit . . . it is SO cute! I bought the boys their own personalized stamps, with their names on it . . . they're SO excited! I just hope I can have enough restraint, to allow THEM to stamp their names on these boxes!

I hope you're having a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by my craft room!
Peggy

p.s. Slight change in plans, for the Spring Fling weekend . . . the Make-n-Take passport is now included in your registration fee! :o) Gosh, we're going to have alot of fun!

Rag Purse

This is the hottest thing with all the SU! gals . . . running fabric through the Big Shot! You can make purses, with the Scallop Square Stampin' Up! Clear Bigz die, or fabric flowers (as Shelli Gardner did, using the Stampin’ Up! Flower Folds die) . . . all using your Big Shot machine and some fabric! Another cool thing . . . it will cut out about 6-8 layers of light fabric at once (with the denim material, it was about 4 layers)! Cool, huh?

I do need to run this one through the washer & dryer, so the edges ravel some more . . . but I just had to show you! If you're interested in the workshop, on January 23rd @ 1:00P . . . e-mail me and I'll let you know the fabric requirements.
You will need to provide/bring a sewing machine, fabric, thread, scissors, and straight pins. The class is $15 and includes your printed instructions, quilt batting, button cover, and a yummy salad for dinner . . . so you won't feel rushed!

I have to tell you what Sandra is doing on her blog, In This Small House . . . a "Get Healthy, Be Well Challenge"! Who would want to eat healthier? If you'd like to join the challenge, just go to her blog and the goals are there.

Gonna go throw this in the washing machine. Thanks for stopping by my craft room . . . I hope you're having a wonderful day!

Valentine's Workshop Sneak Peak!

On New Year's Eve, we decided to go out to dinner . . . so we went to Red Lobster. The place was absolutely packed!! We had a 55 minute wait, but well worth it . . . we got the BEST waiter, Iluvya. We were privileged enough of having him wait on us before, when we were there in October. He's a huge guy, but when he takes your order or talks to you . . . he squats down (the boys thought that was kinda funny). Here the place was packed and he made us feel that there was no rush, he always remembered what we needed, he was cool and collected the whole time . . . what an awesome dining experience with my fellas!

Once we got home, we played Wii tennis . . . the boys kicked our butts! We knew the boys wouldn't make it until midnight, so we went ahead and popped their "faux" champagne at 9:00P. For Patrick, 9:00P was doing good. He normally drops (literally) somewhere around 8:00P or 8:30P.

Here's one thing that we haven't done, in the monthly workshops . . . a 3" x 3" card! Guess what?!?! We are now . . . with Rich Razzleberry & Kiwi Kiss! :o) I keep forgetting about this size of card, but it's a perfect size for on top of a package. We're going to use the new punch too! WAHOO!

So . . . is everyone up to creating a Christmas card, each month? If so . . . we'll do the snowman fella . . . so let me know, okay?

Just THREE more days until Sale-A-Bration and Occasions Mini!! OMG . . . I can hardly wait!

Thanks for stopping by my craft room,

A My Digital Studio Page

I finally got my little camera hooked up to my laptop . . . so guess what I just had to do?! I created a My Digital Studio scrapbook page! I created this one totally from scratch and it really was easy, to drag and drop pictures . . . add embellishments . . . and pick the background DSP. Boy am I getting so many things done with my time off! Next thing is to get my new 12" printer hooked into our network, so I can print this puppy off! :o)

These photos were from the local scrapbook convention, that we all went to in October. So you know the gals that I talk about . . . on the right side circles (from top to bottom): Jenny, Tammy, Me, Cara, Theresa (my sister) . . . also in the group photo (at the bottom) . . . there is Karen (far left), Laurie (far right on crutches, she'd just had knee surgery . . . what a trooper), along with Stacy Croninger (Editor-in-Chief of Paper Crafts magazine).

We stayed at the Embassy Suites (pretty close to the convention), which worked perfect for scrapbook weekends . . . 'cause you have a "crafting" room and a bedroom. You can see, in the bottom/left picture, how we had our living/crafting room set up. It was so much fun!

I feel very fortunate, to have such great friends and family to do things like this with. ;o)

Thanks for stopping by my craft room!
